Mrs B's Cat

Room 17 love watching Simon's Cat on You Tube.  I think Simon's cat is very similar to my cat Rocket.  Here's a few clips of my fur baby.

Pick of the Bunch Writing Week 9 (oops, it's a bit late!!)

In Week 9 we went for a lovely walk down to the duck pond and then in to the bush.  We are so lucky to have this wonderful place to explore just behind our school! Jordan's writing was voted the best.

Yesterday Room 17 went to the duck pond.  The ducks were fizzy because they were swimming in coke and coke's fizzy. The water looked like magic sparkles. The grass felt icy cold in the shadows. The grass felt like slime.

So who located the most places on the NZ Map?

Last weeks Hands-on Homework was to locate the major cities and other places that were special on a map of NZ.  I challenged Room 17 by asking them who could add the most places to their NZ map.  Well done to our top boy and girl!  Jordan got 38 and Nikita got 37!

Pick of the Bunch Writing - Week 8

Here's last week's Pick of the Bunch writing.  Another win for Josie!  Our experience last week was a really sweet one.

One misty morning Room 17 wondered what the teacher was rustling behind her back.  "What is that noise?" I whispered to my friend Neive.  Then the teacher showed us a packet of...lollipops!  The class bellowed in excitement.  The teacher picked us a buddy.  I was with Hugh.  We all found a seat in the classroom.  I was given an orange lollipop.  The teacher told us to stare at it.  I could hear my lollipop talking to me.  "Come on Josie, I really want to be eaten.  Please," it nagged.  "Well, I don't think so," I answered.  "Fine," it said back.  My mouth watered in hunger.  The wrapper crackled like fireworks in my sweaty hands.  The lollipop looked like a beautiful and yummy sunset.  "Come to the mat," Mrs B called.  I strolled to the mat.  "Ok, now hand the lollipops back because you will eat them tomorrow," said our teacher.  "NO!" bellowed the class.  "I'm just kidding.  Just eat them."

5 Sentence Challenge #13 - Eric

Our 5 Sentence Challenge prompt this week was 'In the tunnel...' Eric and Josie were voted favourites by the class (you can only get voted for is you write 5 sentences! We had 11 out of 23 manage to write 5 sentences this week) and Joshua was picked for teachers choice.

Here's Eric's

I was screaming for my life.  I was in my rusty, old mine cart zooming away from the giant boulder behind me.  Sparks of light were flying out of my cart's squeaking wheels.  I saw a light in the distance and I immediately knew all this horror would be over.  Finally I was free of the creepy, haunted tunnel.

5 Sentence Challenge #13 - Joshua

Vrrooom, the London Underground train whizzed from station to station.  The tunnel was a blackout and misty.  I could only see the train.  I took a look at my small paper map.  Where were we?

5 Sentence Challenge #13 - Josie

I squeezed my mum's hand as I tip-toed in the pitch black tunnel.  Dribble, dribble, drop, went the prickly, stony ceiling spikes.  A rock was shaped like a puppy dogs cuddly face.  I stretched my tiny legs into a cold canoe and then I saw glow worms above me and my mother.  A man reached the oars and I snuggled my brave mummy until I spotted light that washed my shivers away.
