The Circus by Jake

I nearly fainted!! The circus was WICKED. Motorbikes, human chandeliers and more.  When we got to our seats, the spotlight blinded me. It was amazing.

The Circus by Sophie

Animals were doing tricks, lifting up girls like strongmen. The tent was red and white.  The tent was crowded. The chandelier was tingling. I was amazed.

The Cool Circus by Yuna

I saw an orange and yellow striped tent.  I marched into the tent. The juggling jesters were tossing balls up in the air. I got a pink, fluffy cotton candy and it was enormous! The great jugglers were cool.

Random Acts of Kindness

Lots of lovely little notes were floating around Room 17 last week. I found yummy wrapped up brownies on my desk, flowers on my laptop and cards on my chair. Everyone was trying to do a RAOK. To end the week we left a special treat for all the staff in the school. We enjoyed being sneaky ninjas leaving chocolates for others!

Drama time

We've been super lucky to have Finn's mum Andi come in and teach us drama on a Monday.  We have been trying to discover the three secrets of characterisation. We found out to be a good character you need to use your voice, face and body. We're looking forward to next weeks lesson!

Teach Me Tuesday Week 3

Tuesday is fast becoming our favourite day of the week! We're learning so many cool things and the Room 17 students are proving to be great teachers.  This week Finn taught us all about ancient Rome and Scarlett had us perfecting our soccer skills.

Term 2 Homework Reward

We had great fun on Friday having a BYOD session for our term 1 homework reward.  If you have positive points on Class Dojo, you get to participate in the reward.  You get a positive point for remembering to hand your homework book in on a Friday.  We've just decided on our homework reward for Term 2. Can you see which one won?

Lenny and Lala's Wedding

Room 17 had lots of fun planning a wedding for our class mascots Lenny and Lala.  They each had a job to do and we think the wedding went really well on the day.  Here's the official video of the event!

Long and Short Vowels

Scribble Drawings

For our Hands-On Homework last week, Room 17 used a template to draw pictures of fish. It was great seeing the different ways they interpreted the template. They could also try and do a scribble drawing. I thought Hugh's scribble drawing and Olivia's fish were pretty creative!

Teach Me Tuesday Week 2

Olivia and Zachary did a fabulous job teaching us on Tuesday. Thanks to Olivia we learnt how to ice bunny cupcakes (and even got our own recipe to take home) and Zach taught us how to bowl and bat in cricket.

Drama with Mrs Dowson

Room 17 do drama with Mrs Dowson on a Thursday.  Here we are being dying plants because someone forgot to water us!

Food Survivor Challenge

Yesterday the Biggles team found themselves stranded in the wilderness (Nature Trail) with a can opener, a peeler, a bread knife, half a loaf of bread, a tomato, a carrot, a tin of baked beans, a blob of margarine, some lettuce and some napkins.  Could they use these food items to feed their group and survive the night?  What a fun way to kick off our inquiry in to Sustainability and in particular the Life of Kai! The students came away with alot of discoveries and an awareness of their ability to prepare food for themselves.  Who needs a can opener when you have rocks?

Teach Me Tuesday

We had our very first Teach Me Tuesday's this week. Jake taught us how to make vanilla cakes and Renee taught us how to do handstands and cartwheels.  She even set up a competition for the boys and girls.  We all got to enjoy a yummy vanilla cake for lunch after Jake's cakes came out of the oven.  I wonder what we'll learn next week? Don't forget to have a read of our reflections (see the tab at the top of our blog)

Wedding Planning

Everyone has been hard at work this week in Room 17! On Friday our class mascots Lenny and Lala are getting married. Here are some photos of us working on our wedding jobs.
